Worship In Person
Worship is also continuing ‘in person’ in our churches. You may have heard that 19th July was dubbed “Freedom Day” by the UK government – the day that they removed most of the legal requirements relating to Covid-19 security measures.
However while this sounds great in theory, in practice it means that responsibility for managing Risk Assessments has been transferred to local church leaders and Managing Trustees, who still (as always) have a legal duty of care to keep all users of our buildings as safe as possible. This means that we have to assess the risks and take appropriate action – we cannot just leave it up to individual choice. And at the present time it seems that the Covid infection rate is as high as ever, in fact I heard someone on TV this week say it is now the highest in the world!
Therefore we have decided that at our churches in Hucclecote and Lonsdale Road, most of the precautions that have been in place for the past few months will continue with just a few adjustments. Mask wearing will continue, social distancing and one way systems will still be in place and you will still be asked to sanitise hands on entry and to record details (or scan the Q code with the app) for Test and Trace.
We may make some adjustments to the distancing of seating to 1m+ rather than 2m to enable us to increase capacity while maintaining social distancing. And we may now sing quietly while wearing masks!
So if you are planning to come to church at 10.30am please continue to let Jill (Lonsdale Road) or Lynne (Hucclecote) know before Saturday. If you are a visitor you will be most welcome just phone and leave a message on 01452 616118.
