Worship for Sunday 8th November – Remembrance Sunday

Welcome to our Worship at Home today, the first Sunday of the new lockdown when our buildings are once again closed and no services can take place in them.

Nevertheless I hope that you enjoy worshipping together today through our online services. Below I have also included a video from Plymouth Devonport Circuit’s Performing Arts Mission Act of Remembrance. First, here is my introduction to today’s worship:

Introduction to worship

Worship at Home 8th November – Rev Jayne Webb

The Plymouth and Devonport Circuit’s Performing Arts Mission have, in partnership with the Royal British Legion, created a beautiful video for use in churches, homes and online:

Because of You – An Act of Remembrance

Anne Middleton is the Performing Arts Mission Enabler for the Plymouth and Devonport Circuit. This was a new role for the circuit which only started in January this year. Anne is passionate about the power of the arts to touch the soul and transform lives, with a message of the hope we have in Jesus. Anne was building up to the first circuit production, Passion, when the churches closed. Since then, she has been working hard to create resources that can be used online and has started the Performing Arts Mission Facebook community. Anne has been able to collaborate with artists around the country and has made resources available for use outside the circuit.

The video features Anne’s poem, ‘Because of you…’, written for the Royal British Legion’s 2018 ‘Thank You’ theme, with her husband, Rev. Darren Middleton, singing ‘You raise me up’ (to a newly created backing track by Paul Field).

The poem and song are set as part of an ‘Act of Remembrance,’ which includes bugles sounding The Last Post and Reveille, including the Two Minute Silence.
